News from Nilai! (6-16-10)

Hi everyone!
Sorry this update is so long in coming! All of us here in Nilai have been settling in and trying to figure out our internet connection, but now we think we've got everything figured out. Here's a brief picture of what our lives are like:

Nilai is a small suburb of KL, about an hour long bus ride from Subang that is based around several college campuses: Nilai-UC, INTI-UC, and KKT. This is great for our team since we spend the majority of our campus time at INTI, making new friends in the cafeteria, hanging out around campus, and playing on the frisbee pitch and the basketball (and, occassionally, badminton) courts. We're enjoying getting to know students at INTI and Nilai as they show us around the area. We also teach an English class on Wednesday afternoons, which is challenging to plan for since none of us have ESL training, but it is definitely a great way to make new friends.

When we're not hanging out with students on campus, we like to go to the pool at Nilai Springs Resort, watch bootleg movies of questionable quality and just chill at our houses (the guys live in a house on the other side of our neighborhood). Obviously, life in Nilai is extremely fast-paced. (Haha--not really--when we went to visit our Subang friends and explore downtown KL, the city life was a stark contrast to quiet Nilai.) Another one of our favorite things to do is eat roti, which is basically the Indian version of a crepe and is really wonderful. Below is a video of us enjoying roti one night a few weeks ago.

Thank you for praying for us! The Lord is being faithful in keeping us safe, growing us together as a team, letting us meet students, and teaching us about himself. There will hopefully be more consistent blogging from all of us in Nilai so be looking for some pics/videos. We love you all and miss you!

grace and peace,
Hannah

Just spent the weekend at SOP and it's just amazing how the Lord is at work there - I think that crowd is keeping Him busy!Ha! Heard Rupert speak - amazing man. Met all the Malaysian students - one was in the parent night skit - hilarious - they were excited when I told them I had a son in their country. They just love being in Orlando.
